Comcast in Fishers, Indiana - Internet service dropping out

having had the service for some time 2+ years and in the last year the problem has continued to increase in frequency. our video feed has no problem but the internet drops off completely we have had customer service out 2 times and they all brag how the signals are adequate and we should not have any issues after replacing the router/hub/wireless device they leave. only to have the problem happen again and again. the us/ds lights will start flashing and go thru the restart whatever and service will soon return sometimes for a short period and sometimes longer, the problem has only been acknowledged by there online tech support and they could not do any thing for it. they all pursue the WiFi as the problem but my computer with monitoring software is a hard line and i am surprised it has been up long enough to type this text when the upstream/Downstream lights drop out the link to the provider service is basically gone. This stops all thru put. i am pursuing other providers. i am sick of it and will not recommend it to family or friends.

This is called "ranging" when a couple of the lights on your modem/gateway drop off. You can replace the modem a thousand times and the same thing will occur.

The reason is because the problem exists before it even gets to the modem. This is clearly a case of signal loss. Since you said you are not experiencing reception issues on your tv(s), then the signal loss is close to the modem. Verify the coax (screw on cable) is finger tight.

Follow that same cable from the back of the modem. Is there a splitter you happen to run into?

Replace that two dollar point of failure. Also, no ports on a splitter should be left open as often times ingress and egress are a common variable based on the symptoms you are experiencing.

I ask Comcast for a telephone. But when I got a bill for install.

It was over 119 dollars. In the bill is internet, I do not have computer so I am not able to run internet, they put me in the bill wireless phone to. But I did not asked for this services so I went to the offices of Comcast and asked to disconnect, but so far they did not do this.

If they hope to get money from me is foolish I did not pay bill for install and do not going to pay no one CENT.

I tell do not use Comcast, better use AT T it more honest

Comcast Gateway Router/Modem

Bill went up again. Agreed to a lesser price to bundle all 3.

Called 3 times because new equipment never came.

Still nothing. Next step - different service company.

I responded to an offer for a FREE Gateway router/modem from Comcast. It said I could get much faster internet speed. After installation,It was much slower than my old one, which I had to return to them. I called them twice and got a runaround. The third time I called, I was finally told I could get faster internet speed by subscribing to a higher "tier". I asked if it was free. And, of course, they said no. So I have to now pay extra to get the speed on my old "slow" modem. I feel this is bait and switch.

Agree! Installed mine last night.

After 4 hours, talking to 7 different people, being transfered from the cable department to the phone department to get everything up and running and being "accidentaly" hung up on 4 times I told them I wanted to re install my old one. Thier responce was "I'm sorry.

I can't do that. I do not have that information anymore." Then he gave me a phone number to call that gave a constant busy signal.

Comcast in Terre Haute, Indiana - No service

My internet service went down Sat night. No tech available until Tue. My family needs the phone to call if we need to call 911. There are children in the home, my sister is sickly and has heart problems, you think com-cast/ X whatever!!!! They just don't care about their customers, but there will come a day when you will need us. I hope you get your act together, you should have someone on call to fix the problem. When someone dies and you are hit with a class action law suite then you will feel the same way we do......we willl not care!!!!!!!

I agree that your situation stinks. If Comcast is your phone provider, they would have had a tech there within 24 hours.

In most cases it's within 12-18 hours.

The law is 24 hours as well. If you have Comcast Internet and lets say Vonage for your phone service, then Comcast is not liable for the inability to call 911 since they are not your phone carrier.

Comcast Cut Off My Email Account

Going through an ugly divorce. However, soon-to-be ex-hubby did one good thing. He filled out a form from Comcast and provided a copy of his drivers license authorizing me to change the family Comcast account into my name. So I went down to the local Comcast location, with the necessary authorization paperwork and switched the account to my name. My big concern was if I could keep my current email address, old messages and address book -- no problem says the Comcast representative. I came home, activated the new service, and after speaking with a Comcast customer service rep by phone, was able to access my old email account. Everything seemed fine -- I even got a bill for $80 from Comcast in my own name -- then two days ago I suddenly couldn't access my email account. I contacted Comcast and at first was told that it was all just a silly glitch and would be quickly repaired -- but soon I found myself being transferred to another customer service rep, then a technician, etc. Apparently there was no information in my account record about the authorization forms I had submitted to the local Comcast office allowing me to make changes on the old account so Comcast cut off my email account. To turn the service back on I would have to go back to the local Comcast office and start all over again. When I pointed out that I must have submitted the necessary forms, had the proper authorization, to make changes on the account in the first place, the Comcast technician told me to have a nice day and ended the online chat.

Do not use comcast as Internet access provider

I used to use Insight in our Fishers area in Indiana. Insight charged $45 per month for Internet only access. But, as soon as Comcast bought Insight and price immediate increased to $55 wiht same service and now it is $59.95 per month. and this month they added another $3 to my bill for so called:"PowerBoost" without my consent. In Fishers in Indiana, Comcast is the only Internet provider and we do not have choice. I tried to call their customer support and it make me wait for over 30 mins now. Do not use Comcast if possible !

It could be the voice of a Filipina as Comcast utilizes call center in The Philippines as well as possibly India and other countries. Maybe Comcast should have those recorded voices sell Philippines Vacation Packages while you are on Hold, after all, the new Tourism slogan for Philippines is " It's more fun in the Philippines ! "

Our lawyers are experienced and successful at winning this kind of case and we have the evidence. Comcast thinks that hiring a Perkins Coie lawyer will intimidate us. It just proves that they know they are going down and have a lot of money to waste.

I am still waiting now and it is close to one hour. In the meantime, I keep hearing a weird woman voice with a strong foreign accent:"At this time certain customers are experiencing slowness.

We apologize for the inconveinenc ...". This kind of voice and accent is really get on my nerve and it is repeating every 10 seconds and sound like a ghost voice.

Customer Reps for a U.S.

company are supposed to speak English with any accent because they represent the image of that company. Comcast can not even to hire a customer Rep without a foreign accent?

Comcast in South Bend, Indiana - Courteous and Incompetent

I have the triple play, but only get one service - the phone, which we should probably cancel anyway. Since the digial conversion, we don't have TV service about 25 percent of the time. Internet service is at half speed and they sent a new router which made no difference. Four techs out for TV and finally one says, "you have a weak signal at the pole, you are lucky to have any picture at all." "Line maintenance" comes and they are four houses away, never fix the issue, am told I would get a credit, and they increase price 20 bucks. Worst service ever.
