I asked up front when setting up my account if there would be an installation fee. They said no. My first bill came with a $20 installation fee, despite the fact that they installed nothing; the previous tenant was also using comcast. I called to ask that it be removed. They said that it would be. I got my next bill and it was still there. I called again and they said that it was a "legitimate charge". I called the exact guy that set up my account and he said he would get the charge removed. Two weeks later...no action.

Comcast in Indianapolis, Indiana - Intermittent and slow internet

I have been having a lot of trouble with Comcast internet. Slow, spotty, intermittent connections. Three visits to the Comcast "support" website resulted in service visit that I cancelled in error but the guy showed up anyway because Comcast takes a while to notify their contractors of scheduling changes. He takes one look at the outside wiring and begins a litany of things wrong with it that a funded service visit will have to correct. OK. Visit #2 corrects some of it but it was getting on to lunch and the service person decided to bail fixing two of the 3 major problems she saw. She promised to call and schedule the last of the services (call never happened). Her work was so shoddy that what she did accomplish will have to be redone along with replacing the cheap wire used by the installation Comcast guy many years ago (problem #3). So I went to the "Support" website again to schedule a visit. That was such a nightmare (it took well over an hour after I contacted the online "support" person), that I am considering dropping Comcast. The new "Support" person determined that my old Comcast cable modem was not responding to demands to update its firmware so it should be replaced. He sent me to a Comcast service center in far SW Indy which had moved to south Indy several years ago. The real Comcast service center was on the far NW side of Indy where I traded in the old modem for a new one. Total time = a little over 3 hrs. Thank heaven it was a nice day and I rode my 50 mpg motorcycle. Hoopla. Problem #3 is scheduled for Tuesday. AT least it wasn't as bad as billing me for 2 modem/routers for more than 6 years ($6/month) when I have never had but one. Repeated calls to various parts of the company openly stopped the practice but on one had the authority to provide a refund.

Comcast Stinketh

My problem began a couple days after my recent Comcast installation. My cable modem would disconnect from Comcast's network at random. Some days as many as 6 or 8 times in a day, some days not at all. Installing a new cable modem didn't help, so I installed a PC a few feet from the modem, and fed the rest of my network from that computer. Then when Comcast disconnected from the cable modem I found that I could ping every device on my network, but nothing on the Comcast side of the modem. Communicating this on several occasions to the people at Comcast (all but one of whom seemed to be pretty "low wattage" types) I was asked a breathtaking panoply of *** questions (is your router plugged in?) and been told some Cosmically *** things (it's your modem/router/wiring/computer) which clearly weren't very helpful. I was expecting them to next say "It's George Bush's fault". Today a Comcast chat "analyst" had me perform various Moronic operations, only to disconnect when I pointed out that none of them were germane to the problem. Enough of these *** Comcast will be History at my place shortly!

Comcast Cable has the worst customer service of any industry

Our cable was out due to pool installation; comcast was to bury this Spring when ground thawed. Well, we got "in their line" and after 16 missed or botched calls, they finally got it buried wrong again today...in our neighbors yard. Even worse, it's been there before, yes they made this error previously, had to dig it back up and doing so, they cut it, leaving us without for five days and no one to fix it, they were busy. I was put on hold one night for two hours then disconnected when the service office closed. I have over 30 contacts, details with every saying oh that is terrible, and not one person has been able to get it done or is willing to accept any responsiblity. I have missed work when they did not show up, but hello,its a driveway job, so they don't need me? Well apparently they do need me at home to tell them where the driveway is. It is the paved black thing, not the green yard next door. I am sick of hearing that the driveway bore guys are independent contractors - well great but after a few misses, could they get it right> I am exhausted, disgusted and sick of them. Out of this world. They need to take responsiblity.

In my opinion Comcast has made some terrible changes, first of all the channel guide no longer has the date or day. Second and one of the worse changes, the standby mode which we have no control over, this only happened after the channel guide change. Comcast support told me that it is built into the cable box and not something they did....wrong, and when speaking to customer service they pretend they can't hear me,then I am hung up on.
