A recent Comcast customer letter dated August, 2007, states that we will be paying an additional $3.00 per month for High-Definition DVR services. This is NOT an increase for service costs, oh no, but an incurred charge for "increased investments we're [Comcast] making in technology".

Comcast means to say that they are charging customers for their own internal Research and Development (R&D). While R&D is inherent in most companies, the cost of R&D comes from a companies baseline running profits and should never be directly incurred on a company's customers. Customers are paying for services they are using NOW, not in the future.

While Comcast DVR services are poor, at $10.00 per month, they are barely acceptable; at $13.00 per month, it is no longer of value.
