Comcast is a HORRIBLE company with even worse Customer Service Reps.

Comcast have wasted hours and hours of my time via botched installations. My first experience occurred when I had to have two separate technicians come out to install my cable as the first technician did not know how to do it. The second technician left me with a physically broken modem (the cabe attachment was broken off and nowhere to be found). When I called to complain I was told that I should have opted for the $50 install option. I found this insulting as I knew that no technician could ever hook up a broken modem. I had to continue to use themas I had NO other cable TV options in my neighborhood until RCN came along and I promptly switched. Fast forward 4 years and I mad the mistake of falling for Comcast's new Xfinity deal. I must be ***. Here is what happened this time: Technician showed up with the incorrect boxes (No HDMI connection) and one of them didn't even WORK. He then tells me that the HDMI Cable boxes were rare. When I had signed up I had a conversation with the representative and he not only told me that I would get HDMI boxes but cables too. None of this happened. I call again to complain, and they tell me there was nothing on the work order about HDMI cables and went on to further tell me that there IS no place for that on the work order (Huh?). When I asked what they could do for compensation they said they could wave the meager $40 installation fee. When I said that is not much of a discount I was told that was quite a lot of money, which made me wonder if the Supervisor had ever seen a monthly Comcast bill, because if $40 is a lot of money then a Comcast bill must be a HUGE amount of money...Please if you have ANY other option stay away from Comcast.

Comcast in Wheeling, West Virginia - Direct TV deducted disputed fees from bank account.

I had a house fire last 6/12/09 where I lost everything. I settled my account with direct TV at that time in full. In March of 2010 I got a letter stating I owed them $340 because they reinstated my service in December. Which was not possible since there was nothing at the site except a lot, not even electric. I called. They kept changing why I owed the money. First for service, then for a contract which I did not have, and finally for the lost equipment. Reason kept changing. Anyway when I disputed the bill, they used old method of payment and went into my bank account and took out $365 without my permission. Moral of story - stay away from Direct TV. I had been a loyal customer for 17 years. Consumer beware!

Relative Died Comcast Coldhearted

I was trying to return a box due to the passing of my relative. I am not from Tennessee so while I was there I was trying to return it. Well they would not come get it so I had to mail it from Nevada. They said if I didn't insure it they would hit my deceased relatives credit report if it was damaged. HELLO..they died and they threatened to hit their relatives credit. Wow, who would want to do business with people like this. This is what you get when you try to do the right thing.

Comcast lie about charges

Last night another yelling session with the kings of poor customer service. Comcast. Comcast by far was the biggest utility bill I pay each month, having their wonderful add ons. Now seems there go to all digital and you need some digital converters to watch the expanded basic content. OK more complexity to hook up, more remotes and no more functionality. I.e. no on demand, no higher order cable channels numbers (that I already pay for) etc. First two converters "FREE" i.e. needed to watch the stuff I already pay for and do not need more equipment for 9using cable ready TV tuner). Any more than 2 then it's $1.99 a month. I need three. Called up to explain that I do not see why to get the same service I should pay for a converter. I would just wait to pay more in May when they put the bill up like they do every year anyway! Then said OK, as you're a customer since '94 you can have 3 at no additional cost. Pick up 3 units. Not installed them as yet, waited for bill to arrive. Guess what? Bill arrived, Charge for additional converter. Called up, no record of any such agreement not to charge. Yet again lied to. In fact the muppet on the other end of the phone tried telling me the conversion to digital was mandated by the government! Really since when has cable been an over the air transmission. He argued with me over this! He also told me that on demand and music channels are luxury items in the package!!!! Really, they why do I pay $147 + a month! So until I get an alternative supplier I told them to remove HBO and reduce the package to digital starter. Guess what? ALL the channels I watched before are still there & I'm $38+ better off a month! Really they stiff a consumer for $1.99 and end up loosing month over month. Comcast are clueless in how to retain paying clinet, what clients value and what would retain them.

Comcast in Boston, Massachusetts - Keep Wasting mOney on Cable at Your Long Term Peril

We had been wasting $85 per month on Comcast Cable when we decided that the next time it went up event one cent we'd drop to basic service. In March, 2010, we made a guess that it would go up so we downgraded to basic for about $15 per month. Sure enough, we got a letter 3/25 that they were raising what had been our old rate by $3 per month. Were were thrilled to have beat them to the punch. I'm an attorney for a boutique private bank. I've seen the habits of people who are worth millions and have learned from talking to them how they got there. They got there by not wasting a dime, foregoing short term pleasures for long term gain, by investing instead of spending. You can never make money by spending it. Over a lifetime, you don't lose $1 million by misplacing it. You lose it $50 at a time, buying things you don't need and will throw away. Or by paying Comcast for worthless programs peppered with commercials and reruns of the same films. Cancel or downgrade cable today and invest the money in your retirement plan. You can bet that's where Roberts and the other Comcast executives put the money they drain from you each month. Good Luck. Change your habits today and don't wake up one day at age 50 or 60, having earned a lot of money, with nothing to show for it but old Comcast bills and a bunch of receipts from restaurants and bar rooms.

Comcast in Ocala, Florida - Shutoff service prior to date

I am currently renting in Sebring Florida. My landlord is a Anna Steffen, is providing me with comcast cable tv. On Tuesday, March 23, my service was shutoff. I immediately went to my landlord. She called the local customer service number. She was told that service was shut off on the 23 for lack of payment even though the payment due date was the 24. She told them that she mailed in the payment on the 16th and thay should have received it by the 19th. They checked the system and found that the payment was posted on the 20th and they had no idea why the service was shut off early. They promised to restore service as soon as possible. It is now 5:30 pm on the 24th and service still has not been restored. I am the renter, Michael DeSantis. The account is in the name of Anna Steffen at 104 Mimi St, Sebring Fl, 33870. Because of the disruption of service and the apparent lack of commitment to service by the local office I will be contacting the BBB.

Food more important than any cable company, I going to shut down my cable also. In not worth the price of going without food. I can't see paying out 80.00 just to see tv.

Do you expect anyone to feel sorry for you? You don't need cable to live so stop you're whining.

You do realize that it's not Comcast's responsibility to make sure that you have your soap fix or are able to watch Oprah every day, don't you? Why don't you get the local channels? It's because you feel entitled to get the highest level but be able to only pay $20 a month because you're on a fixed income.

Grow the *** up.

You're online, that should be enough. If you're at the library (which I highly doubt) then go check out some FREE movies and stop you're *** complaining.

It appears that your computer is working just fine and you're able to afford internet access - read your news and catch up on your soaps from there. There are lots of things I'd like to have too, but alas, evil people and organizations expect me to pay for them.... :cry

It's possible to qualify for a "Senior Citizen" rate--IF Comcast offers such. I know AT&T was offering Senior Citizen rates on some of their services in florida.

:? If you can't afford it, you can't get it.

Sorry to hear about your situation, but Comcast (or other cable tv) is not a right. It is a "luxury", to use your term. This issue is not about fairness.

No one needs cable tv. Be glad you can put food on the table and have a roof over your head.

Comcast in Elmhurst, Illinois - Used my DTA w diff account

Comcast sends me a DTA box for new cable. I hook it up correctly. Website says it may take 24 hours for service. I wait 4 days. Call in, Justin gives me the run around, says DTA wasn't on our account, says he set it up & to call back in hour if it doesn't work. 1.5 hours on the phone the next day and Guillermo says Justin didn't put the DTA into my account. Said my DTA is synced with another account due to a human error, but not my error. I have to set up a new box when he sends it to me. He also said the phone numbers they send DTAs to often appear under multiple accounts and mine was confusing. We've had this phone number for 23 years and never moved. Not confusing.

Where else do we have to pay in advance for a service? The airlines? Legal advice? I guess overcharging and advance payment go hand in hand. How about being told your bill will be 140.00 per month and it's 170.00 every month? Unfortunately, I feel bad for the...
