Comcast raised my rates almost 50 % in 3 months

I can't figure out what happened... I've been a loyal Comcast subscriber for years,,, boy have they changed... I got a new HDTV for Christmas, and all was well when I traded in my reg box for an HD box, and had a few dollars added for HD service... all good, no complaints.. In April, my Comcast service went up $30.. In May, it went up another $25... Why did the cost of my service raise almost 50% in the last 2 months, yet, I get nothing? WAIT!! I can't complain to Comcast!! they'll prolly shut off my phone!! Seeya Comcast... WOW is looking real good

Comcast obnoxious sound effect on phone

Comcast human beings are usually helpful, once you get through to them. But the phone menu is now even worse than in the past because of a repellant sound effect used to fill waiting time. It sounds like someone clicking their tongue in your ear. Ot the sound for calling a horse. In one call you can get this four times, by which time I want to throw the phone across the room. The *** who came up with this idea and the *** who approved it should be sentenced to listen to it for a couple of hours. It's the most noxious customer service phone menu I've ever experienced.

Comcast Phone Service Unreliable I am going back to the Real Phone Co.

I recently changed my phone service from the " traditional " phone company to Comcast. I have had Comcast for broadband internet and Basic cable TV and for the most part it has been reliable and OK. A few years ago their broadband internet at times would slow down to be slower than Dial-Up until they increased their capacity on the local nodes. It has been just fine the past few years since then. The primary dis-satisfaction I have had with the Phone Company ( the one that has always been here since the days of the Bell System ) is that I am paying as much in Taxes as I am for the cost of telephone service. This is Not a fault of the phone company as they are mandated to collect these taxes by local, state and federal agencies. Sure, there have been service problems at times with " the phone company " here too such as trees falling on wires in the streets, lightning strikes , cars toppling phone poles etc. I can't blame them for much of that either. It was primarily the 50% tax on my phone bill. I had inquired about Comcast Phone service a few times in the past and was told their service was 39.95 / month. This was more than I was paying my phone company so I didn't bother with Comcasts phone service. I recently found out Comcast offers a " Local " phone service for 24.95 a month which sounded rather appealing to me so I placed the order for it. The primary stipulation I had was that I would be able to retain the same phone number that I had with " the phone company " for several decades and they assured me this would be done. I geve them a 3 week lead time for installation, the installer showed up on the appointed day and timeframe. The installer seemed knowledgeable and did a good job. I used to do installation work myself so I have had experience in this type of work. When it came time for the installer to have my phone number put onto my Comcast phone service it did not work. The installer called his office and informed them of this and I was told it would take a couple of days or possibly more for the numebr to be " ported " to my comcast phone. I was given a different number for the intrim period which was really useless for me but at least I thought I would be able to make outgoing calls. Not long after the installer left I began getting baraged with calls from telephone solicitor call centers. ( my original number has been on the national Do Not Call list ever since that list began ). To avoid the constant hassles of calls from solicitors, I unplugged the phone and left it that way unless I wanted to make an outgoing call. Two days later my original phone number was active on my Comcast phone service, I thought everything would be ok after that. 24 hours later when I checked again, my original phone number was Gone from my Comcast phone and I was back on a Comcast Assigned phone number. Another call to Comcast Customer Service, going thru all the prompts, waiting on infinity hold for who knows how long and finally speaking to a Comcast rep. This was the first of over 15 more additional hours I would spend on the phone with Comcast. When Comcast finally got my number back on my Comcast Phone, ( about 10 days after original installation ) I did some further testing of this phone service. I had my neighbor call me on their landline phone 10 times within a half hour. Out of those 10 calls, my Comcast phone service only rang 6 times. Four of those calls failed to ring on my Comcast Phone service. Additionally I tried calling my Comcast Phone service myself from my PC using Skype and Yahoo outgoing internet phone services. One out of 4 calls to my phone service, my phone never rang, and I am using a known to be working telephone plugged directly into the back of the Comcast Supplied Modem. In antoher set of tests I tried a second known to be working Western Electric model 2500 series with known to be working interconnecting cable plugged right into the back of the Comcast supplied modem and the next set of incomming call tests were about the same 1 or 2 calls out of four and the phone never rang. There were 6 tests ( in groups of 4 calls ) performed. On the calling end, the test caller heard the ringing in their handset but it did not ring on my phone. A few hours later I tried to make a local call. Instead of a completed call I got a recorded announcement something to the effect of " All circuits are busy right now please try your call again later ". This was a local call in the same telephone exchange I am in ! More calls to Comcast, more time on infinity hold waiting for a rep to speak with. They said they would reset the modem. I was starting to wonder if this is going to be a regular thing now with Comcast Phone Service, having to call them all the time to reset my modem so I could use my telephone. Never had to do this with a traditional phone company ! Later that day I tried to go on the Internet and no matter what I tried to do My internet screen kept telling me that I would have to " set up my Comcast Internet Account ". What the heck is this ? I never had this happen before in the many years I have enjoyed good service on my Comcast Internet Service. Another Call to Comcast with the usual prompts, infinity hold etc to speak to someone. I was told I would have to Delete my cookies, sites visited, temp internet files etc. etc. That was the last straw, I told the comcast rep I had on the phone I wanted to speak with someone there to un-subscribe from my newly installed Comcast Telephone service as I want to go back to my former phone service provider. This Comcast Phone and especially that it caused disruption to my internet was just too much. I don't need a heart attack from this ! Naturally they put me on with someone who desparately tried to convince me to keep my Comcast Phone service and during that conversation, the comcast reps voice just faded out and a few moments later my call was disconnected ! Another call to Comcast, you all know the rest of that routine. I called my former phone service provider ( A Real Phone Company ) and asked what I would have to do to get my phone service back to them and to keep my original phone number. They advised me they would begin the process and also for me to call Comcast back again to inform them. Another call to Comcast.............. I have told Comcast that their phone service is just not working out for me. I'll keep their cable TV and Broadband internet since I am well satisfied with that but I want my Phone Service to go back to my traditional telephone service provider. This transistion back to the " Real " phone company is now in progress. I just want my real phone service back. Maybe " copper " phone lines are not state of the art but for me they have always been reliable, no modems to have to be reset, no battery in a modem to depend on for use of my phone, In case of difficulty I can troubleshoot the system to the point of knowing if it is an in house problem or that of the phone company and at times if I do hear a little static or inbalance hum during a heavy rain storm at least it works relaiably for me. I never missed any incomming calls to my phone with a " Real " phone company and they never misplaced my phone number on me and gave me a substitute one. And what about all of those taxes I tried to get away from by switching away from my traditional ( real ) phone company to Comcast ? Well, next time I pay the bill for my traditional ( real ) telephone service I'll just smile and remind myself that at least I have " real " phone service from a " real " phone company and be satisfied with that. This has all taken place within a two week period and I decided to change back to my traditional phone company before the last billing period with them concludes and they close my account. From now on, no more imitation phone service for me.

Comcast does not return phone calls

Comcast does not return customer service phone calls. When called back they say "oh yes I see that we were supposed to call you on such and such a day - I'll send an email right away and alert someome to call you". It never happens. They have the worst voice mail system. They actually have a digital voice mail system that does not give you the time and date of the call. You have to press four numbers in order to get the date and time and you have to do this for each voice mail received. When I first tried to bundle my service I was told I couldn't becuase I was an existing customer. I called back and got it done with another agent. But I was charged for installation until I called again and had those charges removed. More trouble than it was worth.

When I call the comany they tell me to go to the internet and put in a complaint. Me I would rather speak to someone face to face or,at least, on the phone. I do not like to camplain on no *** machine. My biggest problem that no one at Camcast (on the phone) seems to give darn about my troubles. Comcast Changes Channel Lineup

Comcast has screwed me again. When the US changed from analog to digital tv we were told that if we subscribed to cable or satellite we would be OK. There would be no changes in our tv service. I guess Comcast didn't get the message. Shortly after the change Comcast reduced their basic cable service to only the first 29 channels, which includes only the local stations and the local access channels. So, I bought a new HD tv with a QAM tuner. For the past year I've been able to receive all the cable channels and the local station HD broadcasts by just plugging the tv directly into the cable outlet. I have basic cable and do not have a cable box. Comcast figured out how to beat this system, too. This week I can receive only 3 or 4 cable channels. I can still receive the local stations. If I want to receive the full lineup of cable channels I would have to pay an additional $15 per month for the box. Does anyone have any information on this dirty trick?

Why in the *** do you keep changing the channels on us??? It is less convenient!!!!

Channel 31 is tbs and 32 is nick at night and 33 was tv land but now it is 65 and fx was channel 39 and now it is 67!!!! They were fine the way they were. Close to one another and easy to access!!! You also got rid of rfdtv!!!!

People in Colorado have horses and livestock and watch that channel!!!! You said you were replacing it with a cooking channel!!! There are other channels you can use. What happened to the soap network???

Why can't we watch day's of our lives on channel 9 on demand?? I am pissed please put the channels back!!!! It was easier to use. And why can't I get rid of the spanish channels all the 300's!!!!!!

I do not need or want to pay for those channels!!!! I was in the loveland hospital recent and the channels did not change!!!! Everyone I talk to that have xfinity cable are pissed at the channel changes!!!!! Please put them back so that people are not so frustrated anymore.

The channels you replaced them with I have no use for!!!!

Sincerely one pissed customer!!!! I have been a customer since you started!!!!!

I'm just responding to an older post, couldn't resist. Comcast has deleted a block of channels I was told I would be getting. They were a part of the package. Same situation as with Bob.

My response is really to "lol" who asks Bob if we're "pissed" because Comcast encrypted cable channels we aren't/ weren't paying for.

Well, "Lol", you need to work on your reading comprehension as every post regarding the removal of channels states that the missing channels WERE a part of the package at the time of purchasing the package.

I will be moving to Dish and after one year, I will continue to move ... back and forth, all around in order to keep prices down.

As a long paying customer, I am frustrated to learn that the Science Channel has been deleted from my channels list and the only way to get it back, I’m told, is to pay a ransom of an additional $18.00 a month. All this happened without ANY warning email nor warning in my bill.

This is a very poor way of doing business.

I am shopping for a satellite communications system. And a letter is going to my congressman (cc: Consumer Reports).

I've been a Comcast customer with the basic service for over 6 years. No matter what those idiots in customer service told you, the History channel, MTV, Animal Planet and a whole host of other channels WERE part of the basic cable package....UP UNTIL the digital conversion.

Now they are holding half the channels hostage so they can squeeze more money out of all of us. The reps are being purposely vauge and "not understanding" what you're talking about just to avoid getting into arguments with angry customers. Basically, they don't care. Comcast has a stranglehold on the market and they can basically do what they want unless public pressure makes them change.

And if the American people can't get together long enough to change the ridiculous gas prices, there's really no hope of getting Comcast to change without some sort of miracle.

Best advice...do what I'm doing and look for an alternative tv service, or go without. It sucks, but that's what we're left with.

I too have digital tuners that are able to record comcast cable. Now that they are changing the basic channels from digital numbers(which my tuners can pick up) to channels numbered in the 1,000's, I won't be able to use my tuners.

They need more cable competition. I already pay them over $100 per month.

Lets put them out of business...Local is good enough and if 10 million customers reduce their cable bill by 20 bucks, guess what thats 200 million a month and bye bye comcast..

Comcast 12-hour service window, useless customer service email

my dvr has faint lines showing across the picture on every channel, and a faint buzzing sound as well. the tech that installed it said that it was an issue with having so many devices plugged into the same outlet. a couple weeks later we've moved plugs around and no change. now i'm asking for a replacement dvr, not only because of what i mentioned above, but because a friend of ours has a new model. i don't know why we weren't given the same upgrade. i emailed them to ask for a replacement, they emailed me back saying in so many words "go ask our live chat". which is par for the course with comcast, but i always try anyway, because i don't want to use their live chat. i want to email, go about my daily business, and find a helpful response later. not sit and listen to the phony friendliness of their chat techs. but the best part, the service window in which a technician will come to replace my dvr is from 8am to 8pm. TWELVE HOURS. he'll call 15 minutes before he arrives, if i'm not there the appointment is cancelled... TWELVE HOUR WINDOW. I may be over-reacting, but i'm pretty sure that is like, the stuff of legends, it's the end of the campfire horror story, it's the monster under your bed. 12 hours? What a bunch of ***.

Comcast cut off last 3 minutes of BONES season finale!

Comcast has done it again. Cut off the last 3 minutes of the season finale of Bones with their own Xfinity commercial! What is wrong with these people. This is not the first time they have cut off a program too early. Isn't anyone paying attention? Both times it has been their own Xfinity commercial. This is not the way to keep customers. How hi-tech can they be and keep blowing a simple timing of commercials. This is becoming a real problem....Is anyone accountable? They are rapidly becoming a joke in the industry. Direct TV, here I come.

my recording missed the last couple of minutes, too, with a cutaway to Fox ads; but, since I recorded with a dvr from AT&T, not Comcast, the fault wasn't with them.

Anonymous
#146443

An entire season of Bones, some 22 hours, filtered down to a critical 30 seconds, towards the end of the session finale.

At 8:58, Comcast blurted an Xfinity commercial over the critical dialog between Bones and Booth, likely by mistake, but that was a huge mistake. Someone was clearly sleeping at the wheel.

I called Comcast customer support the next day, to let them know about their blunder. They gave me the phone number to my local CBS affiliate to complain, as though they were the ones who injected the Xfinity commercial. And Bones isn't even a CBS show. What an ***.

I called back and asked for a supervisor. I was left on hold for over 30 minutes, and the supervisor never answered. What a ***.

I think the next move is to contact Fox, to let them know that Comcast is screwing with their programming.

Comcast Cuts service w/o Customers' knowledge

Comcast purposely cut our TV, Internet and Phone Service because our line caused an outage to a node. We contacted Comcast 3X's about no service in a 36 hour window and they could not communicate to us why we had no service. We insisted a tech come out ASAP. The tech finds a yellow tag on our line stating Wicked Noise so it was disconnected. The tech goes through the house and tests all of our tv's. He says an analog tv in our basement is going bad, so he disconnected cable from it and service is magically Restored. Why didn't the tech who cut off our service notify us? He was at the house directly behind us. He could have come to our home and done the same exact thing as this tech did and the problem would have been resolved w/o any further service interruption. We work from home and he did not ring our bell or leave a Comcast tag about this issue. THis is poor communication and negligence for a communication company.

Comcast Screws Customers Again

Comcast has gone all digital as of May 12th and said that customers would get 1 digital box and 2 adapters free. My bill didn't change. Called about it and got 4 lies and then an account exec. Lie 1. You have 3 boxes, 1 is free and is not on your bill because it's free. Fact: I have 2 boxes (1 HD) and 2 adapters. The adapters are free and are listed as such on my bill. Lie 2. Your HD box is free. Fact: My HD charge has not changed, so how can it be free. Lie 3. The digital box charge on your bill is the HD box. Fact: Look at my old bills - Pleeaaasssse. They are the same as this one. The digital box is the first box we had before we got the HD package. Lie 4. Your HD box was free all along. Fact: It's included with the package price. I was told when I picked up my adapters that my other digital box (the orig one) would be free. Now she put me on with an account exec but I had to wait on hold for about 20 minutes. Her bottom line-the free digital box is just for customers without a box!!! After a long conversation with the "account exec", the bottom line as I put it to her was: Customers like myself who have had a digital box for years and paid for it, must continue to pay for it; but the guy next door who got basic services and no box gets a digital box for free. So your long-time digital customers get screwed. She said nothing. Finally, I said right? She said yes! What? Does this make any sense? Just give them adapters!!!! How can they justify giving digital boxes for free and still charging people who have had one? Not only that, but they will install the boxes free of charge or mail them to them.

I didn't say an HD box--I said DIGITAL!!!

And yes they are giving them free to those who did not have one. Their own flyer about the change says under "what is the cost" you get one digital set top box and 2 adapters free of charge!

Anonymous
#145033

1 everybody gets 2 adapters for free.

2 they would never get a free hd box unless is was in a package.

3 if they are giving costumers a free digital box its only for a period of time. this might be a promo to get people to upgrade. the adapters give you all the basic channels anyway.

I F__cking hate comcast

The only reason this company is in business is because they have a monopoly. Their customer service is ***. They are always rude, and only solve the problem half the time. I just called a guy about my internet download speed. I have downloaded catalogs from CDNN numerous times using Time Warner Cable. The download speeds were always around 250 to 350 KB/sec. My download speed with Comcast is 45. I called customer service to have some obnoxious *** tell me that I didn't know what I was talking about. I had Time Warner in two different apartments and a house in Kansas City. I never had any problems with their service. The internet service was always fast. Now I'm stuck in an apartment in Pittsburgh, and all I can get is Comcast. It took three service appointments just to get my internet service hooked up. Then I bought a Motorola router through Comcast that would not work right.

Comcast - Stupidity

I recently replaced a digital converter box with a real cable box because Comcast sends you the converter but it doesn't allow you to view the all of the channels you are paying for (*** #1). Comcast mailed me the new box and the instructions in it were fairly clear, but didn't work because someone didn't set me up to get billed for it (*** #2). I then spent forty minutes on hold because they were more concerned with getting the billing right (Poor Customer Service #1). Today the cable box stopped working because it was no longer authorized. I was told it had not been "provisioned" properly (*** #3). I then asked if I was still being billed for the converter which was no longer attached to anything. I was told I was (*** #4) I asked why not deauthorize it? Silence I then asked if I could mail it back. I was told no that I would have to drive to a Comcast store. There is not a Comcast store where I live so I was told to drive two cities beyond where I live to return it.(*** #5 and God-Awful Customer Service). They mailed a box to me because it was convenient for them but I have to return it in the most inconvient way. If anyone can offer me anything close to Comcast service I would gladly pay double because I want these idiots to go out of business. If they didn't have a monopoly, the American way would drive them to bankruptcy. Comcast sucks!

Comcast - Ripped me off even after I discontinued service

My parents had comcast for years and my when my Mother passed away I took over paying the bills. I noticed about every other month they would find a new reason to increase our bill by a few dollars. when I called to complain, they said it was because they had improved the programming in our area. I said I didn't want the improvements, as I ccouldn't tell any difference, but they said that it had to be done. The programming became nothing but infomercials and paid access of pay per view. We had one digital box in the Living room and none in our bedrooms. Then they began to drop channels from TV's that didn't have their digital box attached down from 98 channels to approximately 50 channels, mostly all junk. My Dad is home a lot so I wanted to extend the channels above 100 which I did. The higher channels wereee nothing but repeats of the lower channels, with few exceptions. The service was getting rediculously expensive and all we were seeing were commercials. I dropped them for Direct TV in April. Then they sent me a bill for 7 days of service in May. I called to ask what this was about and they said that the consumer must pay for service until which time they could get a technician to disconnect it from the pole. What a ripoff. This company is a ripoff.
